Sun 19 NovBrighton 10k |
Road Results Index Full Results Chip times are shown. 2283 finishers. Steve was around 40s quicker than his last 10k at Elmbridge, and Tom was almost 2 mins quicker than at Oxshott a couple of weeks ago. Paul was also a little faster than at Oxshott and Terry after a long absence from racing and complaining of a cold still managed to chase Paul home. Doug has also been an infrequent racer of late (and infrequent trainer!) so was probably pleased to get under the hour. At least he managed to appear in the results this time. |

some fantastic countryside as this one was on the edge of the New Forest.

Road Results Index Full Results Photo Allan reports: "The race was started 5 minutes late in perfect marathon
running weather by that well known welsh athlete Colin Jackson who promised
to run it next year (apparently he says that every year). Steve &
myself had the job of pacing Mel so she could get a sub 3:45 time &
get a guaranteed entry into London. Rob & Tom were running their own

Sun 10 SepMablethorpe Marathon |
Road Results Index Full Results Those running the inaugural Mablethorpe Marathon in Lincolnshire also
suffered from the hot weather, especially as their start time was an hour
later. There was something of an exchange of places amongst the first
three at various stages as each died and came back to life again. Mel
was also seeking a good-for-age time for London qualification (3:45) and
although she missed this, she did run a pb and came home as 3rd senior
lady. Well done Mel. |

Sun 3 SepKent Coastal Marathon |
Road Results Index Full Results Allan reports: It was perfect marathon running weather at the start of
the race but a little blustery. The race started promptly at 9.30am, Rob,
Tom & myself decided to run a little points table according to toilet
breaks: 5 points for a pee break & 10 points for a number 2. I accrued
the first 5 points within 200 yards of the start (damn that Lucozade Sport).
About 5 miles into the race Rob (apparently following race tradition)
broke the 10 point barrier with a bit of a dirty protest. Ask him for
the story, he tells it with great gusto. Provisional official times and places on the left. |

Steve won a kite as a spot prize, so he'll be out on Purley Way this afternoon.
Nigel was not so happy, finishing with cramp. Paul ought to be happy as

Full Results Colin reports: "A good flat, fast course with the right weather conditions, but not on this occasion - wet and windy. It stopped raining as I went past Dan at the 9.5 mile point, cheering me on." |

Paul reports: "I couldn't run this 20 miler last year as I was injured. The course was different from 2004 , with more climbs up the cliffs. All run on Portland around the coastal and cliff paths." |

Sun 9 AprThames Towpath 10 |
Bob reports: "A fine day for running, slight breeze. It's run along the towpath, it's ten miles and it's flat. The momento given to you at the end is a pint glass (empty) - they must have known I was on the wagon B*****DS." |

Full Results Bob reports: "Another first for me and another trip to the seaside. A bit windy but the rain held off. Met Martin at the start and saw a young lady on the course with a Collingwood vest on (mine was in the wash). She seemed a bit shocked when a bloke with a mohican shouted a few words of encouragement. I actually beat Martin for a change. He finished a few mins later." |

Dan reports: "With near perfect conditions and a fast course, I was hoping the dodgy ankle would hold up and offer me a crack at the pb here. Passed through 10M a few seconds inside the hour & was continuing well until personal disaster struck at 11.5M in the form of an extreme stitch / stomach cramp which forced me to stop. Managed to stop-start jog to finish in 1-21-35. Gutted; but a least the ankle's OK. Despite my experience, this is an excellent race, which I hope to do again. Didn't see any other Collingwooders - but surely Bob C was there?" |

Road Results Index Full Results Dan reports: "Brighton was wet, cold & windy
which made for a tough run. I was hoping to do sub-80mins
as last year, but running into a strong wind miles 5-10,
then struggling to stay upright on the muddy footpath
miles 10-12 made sure I didn't get a sniff at that. Felt
I had a fairly good run though & my position was similar
to 2005. Seeing the familiar ponytail of Martin Giles
getting ever closer (rather than ever further away) &
managing to pass him at mile 8 was a bonus....but I guess
he was having an off day!" |

Bob reports: "Fresh was not the word but the brave few who I saw: John, Chris battled the elements. The lack of mud this year was replaced with the ground being frozen so a few dodgy areas. I ended the morning with a time of 43 52 and a free massage, so not so bad after all. Yes Wilson FREE." |
